Which one is right for you?

Choose Object Cache Pro if …

You run Redis with primary and replica servers and want reads spread across them.

You want Relay's adaptive caching and client-side invalidation.

You want tracing with New Relic or OpenTelemetry.

You want premium support options and a plugin with a track record since 2019.

You need to run on PHP 7.2 to 7.4.

Not sure? Install Novra Object Cache on your own site and judge it there. If it's not the right fit, request a full refund within 30 days.

Where Object Cache Pro is stronger

A fair comparison names both sides. These are the areas where Object Cache Pro does more today.

Replication.

Object Cache Pro supports primary and replica servers, finds replicas automatically and offers three read strategies (distribute, distribute replicas, concentrate). Novra Object Cache does not support replication.

Deeper Relay integration.

Object Cache Pro documents Relay's adaptive caching, client-side invalidation and cluster options. Novra Object Cache uses Relay when it's available, without these extras.

Tracing.

Object Cache Pro offers a tracing option for New Relic and OpenTelemetry. Novra Object Cache has no tracing.

More WP-CLI insight.

Object Cache Pro's WP-CLI has commands for analytics, slowlog and Redis commands. Novra Object Cache offers other commands, for example test, info, health and clean-transients.

Support options.

Object Cache Pro advertises premium support with a dedicated engineer. The Enterprise plan adds phone, email and Slack support and 24/7 emergency help. Novra Object Cache is supported through our contact form.

A longer track record.

Object Cache Pro has been around since 2019 and is now at version 1.25.6. It lists hosting partners on its website and names more than 500,000 sites in its own marketing. Novra Object Cache is at version 1.0.0 and has no independent benchmarks or reviews yet.

More server types documented.

Object Cache Pro documents compatibility with Valkey, KeyDB and DragonflyDB. Novra Object Cache is built for Redis (5.0+, 6.0+ recommended).

Runs on older PHP.

Object Cache Pro runs on PHP 7.2 and up. Novra Object Cache needs PHP 8.0 and WordPress 6.1.

If none of these is a must-have for your sites, Novra Object Cache covers the rest – set up in your dashboard, and you pay for it once.

Good questions.
Clear answers.

No. Every Novra Object Cache plan is a one-time payment with updates for the life of the license. There is no renewal date and nothing to cancel. Object Cache Pro's Pro plan is a subscription at $95 a month or $950 a year.

According to Object Cache Pro's pricing page, you need an active subscription to run it. After a 14-day grace period the object cache stops working and you no longer get updates or bug fixes. With Novra Object Cache, your license only brings updates. If it ends, your cache keeps working.

Yes, for both. Neither plugin includes Redis. Object Cache Pro's pricing page says its price does not include a Redis instance, and Novra Object Cache needs Redis 5.0 or newer (6.0+ recommended), the PhpRedis extension, PHP 8.0+ and WordPress 6.1+. Ask your host if Redis is available for your plan.

Yes. The Agency plan covers 25 websites and Enterprise unlimited websites, for one payment. Object Cache Pro's Pro plan covers unlimited sites only if they are owned and operated by the same entity. For client sites, its pricing page lists custom plans on request.

No. WordPress uses only one object cache per site, and Novra Object Cache never overwrites another plugin's object-cache file. Switch Object Cache Pro off before you enable Novra Object Cache.

Note your connection details (host, port, database, password) from the WP_REDIS_CONFIG constant in your wp-config.php. Then switch Object Cache Pro off – with the Disable option in its dashboard or with wp redis disable – and deactivate the plugin. Install Novra Object Cache, enter the connection details in its dashboard and enable the cache. The cache starts empty and fills again as visitors browse. Keep your Object Cache Pro subscription running until you've checked your site. The Novra Object Cache documentation explains each setting.

  1. Disable Novra Object Cache from its dashboard.
  2. Re-enable Object Cache Pro (it needs an active subscription) with your token in WP_REDIS_CONFIG.
  3. Check your key pages while logged out and logged in.

Novra Object Cache makes a backup of your wp-config.php before every change it writes, so you can restore the previous version. And if Novra Object Cache isn't the right fit, request a full refund within 30 days.

We don't promise that. Both store WordPress objects in Redis and use the same main techniques, such as prefetching and compression. Object Cache Pro goes further with Relay's adaptive cache. We haven't run benchmarks. The difference is how you set it up and how you pay. The best test is your own site: measure it with our free speed test, try Novra Object Cache, and compare.

PAY ONCE. KEEP IT.

Redis object caching, set up in your dashboard – paid for once.

Connection settings in WordPress, one-click encryption for your Redis password, a flush that only clears your own keys. No yearly renewal, and your cache never depends on your license.
