MonsterInsights Alternative: Is Novra Tracking Right for You?

Novra Tracking is a MonsterInsights alternative if your priority is sending sales to your ad platforms, not reading GA4 reports. Compare the trade-offs before you switch.

Novra Tracking is a MonsterInsights alternative if your main goal is to send your sales to the ad platforms you pay. It does not show Google Analytics 4 (GA4) reports inside WordPress, which is what MonsterInsights is built for. Keep MonsterInsights if those reports matter to you, and read on to see when Novra Tracking is a better fit, as a second plugin or a replacement.

We make Novra Tracking. This guide compares Novra Tracking Pro 1.0.0 with MonsterInsights 11.3.0 (version per its changelog of 16 September 2026) using Novra’s plugin, MonsterInsights Lite’s code from WordPress.org (its free version) and MonsterInsights’ public pages and documentation, checked on 7 October 2026. It is not an accuracy or speed test.

When switching makes sense

MonsterInsights shows your GA4 reports in the WordPress admin. The overview report is in its free version. It tracks links and downloads already in its free version, and forms and video in its paid plans. If you open those reports every week, switching would take something away from you.

Novra Tracking does the other job. It sends your purchases and shop events to the platforms you advertise on. It works with WooCommerce, FluentCart and SureCart, or with no shop at all. Think about Novra Tracking if one of these sounds like you:

  • You run ads and want your purchases to reach more than Meta, Google Ads and Snapchat, which are the server connections MonsterInsights lists for its Pro plan. Its free version sends nothing to ad platforms.
  • You advertise on Reddit, X, ChatGPT Ads, Spotify, Nextdoor, Taboola or Outbrain, or you use Klaviyo, and want purchases sent from your server.
  • Your shop runs on FluentCart or SureCart. They are neither in MonsterInsights’ free version, which has no shop tracking, nor described in its documentation.
  • You would rather pay once than renew every year, especially across several sites.
  • You read your numbers in GA4 and in your ad accounts, so reports inside WordPress are not essential.

Stay with MonsterInsights if the free version already covers what you need, if you rely on its form, link or video tracking, or if your shop runs on Easy Digital Downloads, MemberPress, LifterLMS, GiveWP or Restrict Content Pro. Novra Tracking has no adapters for those.

Not sure which job you need done? Write down which reports you open and which ad platforms you pay. That list usually answers the question before you install anything.

Novra Tracking and MonsterInsights: the practical differences

Reports versus delivery. MonsterInsights is a reporting plugin first. Novra Tracking is a delivery plugin first. Its dashboard shows a tracking score and, per payment method, how many paid orders were sent. It has no GA4 reports.

Ad platforms. A server connection sends an event from your website instead of the visitor’s browser. Both plugins list server connections for Meta and Snapchat, MonsterInsights in its Pro plan; its free version sends nothing to ad platforms. Novra Tracking can also send purchases to eight more platforms, and it has an optional Google Ads purchase upload that is switched off by default. For TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Microsoft Ads, MonsterInsights lists a pixel and conversion ID, and a server connection is not described in its documentation.

Safety nets for server purchases. Novra Tracking queues server purchases and retries temporary failures. It also respects your visitors’ cookie choice at checkout. MonsterInsights’ free version sends no purchases from the server, and for its Pro plan neither is described in its documentation.

Shop systems and consent. Both work with common cookie banners and offer Google Consent Mode for visitors in the EEA. MonsterInsights has Consent Mode and its consent tools in the EU Compliance addon (Plus and up), not in its free version. Novra Tracking reads your banner but does not replace it.

For the full side-by-side list, including where MonsterInsights is stronger, see Novra Tracking and MonsterInsights compared. We keep that table in one place so it stays correct.

Compare the license cost

The two plugins are licensed differently. MonsterInsights is a yearly license, and its pricing page says renewals are at full price. Novra Tracking is a one-time payment with updates for the life of the license. Your tracking keeps running even if you stop receiving updates.

As displayed on 7 October 2026, Novra Tracking Personal costs $79 once for 1 website. MonsterInsights Pro, the plan with shop tracking and ad platform tracking, shows $199.50 for the first year and covers 5 websites. Its free version costs nothing, and Plus covers 1 site with GA4 reports but not those shop and ad features.

A fair comparison depends on your site count and how long you keep the plugin. Our five-year cost table shows the math and the assumptions behind it. Taxes and later price changes are not included, so check both checkouts before you decide.

Check your site first

A switch only works if you know what MonsterInsights does for you today. Before you touch anything, check these points:

  • Requirements. Novra Tracking needs WordPress 6.4 and PHP 8.0. For a shop, it needs WooCommerce 8.0, FluentCart 1.6 or SureCart 4.9 or newer.
  • Your MonsterInsights plan and addons. Note whether you use the PPC Ads Tracking addon, form tracking, custom dimensions or the EU Compliance addon. Novra Tracking does not replace form tracking or custom dimensions.
  • Your IDs and tokens. Collect your GA4 measurement ID, your Google Ads conversion ID and label, your pixel IDs and any server access tokens. You need your own account at every ad platform, whichever plugin you use.
  • Your cookie banner. Note which banner you use and how it is set up. Novra Tracking works with common banners, but your configuration still needs a test.
  • Other senders. List other plugins, theme snippets and Google Tag Manager tags that send events. Each event should have one sender.

Do not run two GA4 tags with the same measurement ID side by side. Every visit and every purchase could be counted twice.

Test a switch step by step

Treat this as a rehearsal, not a one-click migration. We have not tested Novra Tracking and MonsterInsights together on a live site yet, so every step below ends with something you check yourself.

Decide: run both or replace

If you want to keep MonsterInsights for its reports, you can add Novra Tracking next to it. Novra Tracking is designed to switch off MonsterInsights’ Google tag, so GA4 is not tagged twice. Whether MonsterInsights’ reports keep working as before without its own tag is something to confirm on your test site. If you want to replace MonsterInsights, switch its tracking off first, then follow the same steps.

Rehearse on a test copy

  1. Back up and write it down. Make a full backup. Save screenshots of MonsterInsights’ settings and your list of IDs, tokens and consent settings from the previous section.
  2. Use a staging copy. A staging site is a private copy of your site for testing. Connect it to a separate GA4 test property and to test sources at each ad platform. A private browser window does not keep test events out of your live campaigns.
  3. Install Novra Tracking on staging. Upload the plugin ZIP under Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin. Tracking features do not need a license key. The license is for updates.
  4. Enter your test IDs. Open Novra Tracking, then Settings. Switch on one platform at a time and enter its IDs. Most fields also accept the whole snippet.
  5. Check consent. Choose a consent mode and confirm the detected cookie banner. Test twice: once refusing cookies and once accepting. In the default Basic mode, nothing should load or send before the required consent.
  6. Make sure only one GA4 tag loads. Open your staging page with GA4 DebugView or your browser’s developer tools and confirm a single GA4 tag. If you run both plugins, look at this first.
  7. Switch off duplicate ad tracking. If you use MonsterInsights’ PPC addon, switch it off for every platform that Novra Tracking now sends to, so no platform receives the same purchase from two plugins.
  8. Run a test purchase and compare the events. Walk through a product view, add to cart, checkout and a paid test order. Compare the event names, value, currency and order ID in GA4 DebugView and in each platform’s test tool. Check what MonsterInsights sent for the same actions before the switch.
  9. Check one refund or cancellation. Refunds are corrections, not new sales. Confirm they reach the platforms you chose.

Plan your rollback

Keep your MonsterInsights license active until you have checked your live numbers. If something does not fit, switch Novra Tracking’s platforms off or deactivate the plugin, re-enable MonsterInsights and check a test purchase again. Do not delete MonsterInsights’ settings until you are sure.

Go live and compare

When staging looks right, repeat the setup on your live site during a quiet period. Then compare the same dates, the same currency and the same purchase definition. Totals in GA4, your shop and each ad platform often differ, because platforms credit sales by their own rules. Neither plugin can promise that a platform credits a sale to an ad. If you need help with a setting, the Novra Tracking documentation explains each one.

Decide what to keep

You now have three realistic outcomes. Keep MonsterInsights alone if GA4 reports in WordPress are what you need. Add Novra Tracking if you want both the reports and a wider reach to ad platforms. Replace MonsterInsights if you read your numbers in GA4 and in your ad accounts and want to stop renewing a yearly license.

Want to judge it on your own data? Look at Novra Tracking and its plans. One payment, no subscription, and a 30-day money-back guarantee, so a failed test costs you nothing but time.

FAQ

Is Novra Tracking a full replacement for MonsterInsights?

Partly. They have different main jobs. Novra Tracking sends your sales to ad platforms but has no GA4 reports in WordPress. If you read your numbers in GA4 or in your ad accounts, it can be enough. If you want the reports inside WordPress, keep MonsterInsights.

Can I run both plugins together?

Novra Tracking is designed to switch off MonsterInsights’ Google tag so GA4 is not tagged twice. We have not tested the two together on a live site, so run a test purchase and compare your numbers first. Also switch off MonsterInsights’ ad platform tracking for any platform Novra Tracking sends to.

Will Novra Tracking recover more sales than MonsterInsights?

We do not promise that. Both can report purchases from the browser (MonsterInsights from its Pro plan), and both list server connections for some platforms. The difference is which platforms and shop systems you can use, what you get inside WordPress and how you pay. Your own test purchase is the best check, and the Novra Tracking FAQ explains why totals differ between systems.
